The Madrid Region has one of the best metros in the world. Since 1919, when the section between Sol and Cuatro Caminos started service, the metro network has grown and integrated with other means of transport. Currently, Metro network comprises 238 stations on 12 lines, plus the Ópera-Príncipe Pío railroad line, with 287 kilometers of network, enabling to approximately 2 million of users travel daily in a comfortable manner, fast and safely.

The fleet consists of 2,394 coaches, with an average age of 13.1 years, running more than 169 million kilometers per year.

Metro de Madrid is the public operator, which manages the entire metro network.
